.58 Caliber "US Base" Bullet - Carved

SOLD

This excavated .58 caliber bullet is a very rare find. Not only does it have the raised letters "US" in its base, it also has been carved or whittled on. Civil War bullets are often excavated with whittle marks or sometimes even intricate carvings typically done by soldiers just passing the time, but recovering one that also has the "US" in its base, is very unusual. It has an overall dull-white patina, with very visible letters "US", and carve marks on the nose portion of its upper body. This bullet was recovered in Culpeper County, VA. and will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War bullet or general relic collection. M&M 342 and T&T 152.
