Item: Confederate 54 Gauge Bullet for Deane and Adams Revolver
Condition: Excellent, non-excavated, unfired. Grey patina. Pin with cardboard and felt wad present.
Approximate size: .446 inch diameter; .572 inch length; 132.1 grains weight.

Comments: This example is from a very old Civil War bullet collection. According to the above reference book regarding "English Revolvers":
"Nominally .38 cal. or 84 guage [sic], and .44 cal. or 54 guage [sic] were imported by the Confederacy and southern speculators during the war. These included: Dean and Adams, and James Kerr patent revolvers (both manufactured by the London Armoury Company), and William Tranter's "Patent Double-Action Cocking Revolvers" (made in Birmingham). Imported ammunition bought for these weapons was fabricated in England by Eley Brothers, Broux & Moll, and Henry Gladstone (amoung possible others). Additionally many bullet moulds for southern use accompanied the revolvers."
English Patent No. 1 for 1852 was granted to Robert Adams on October 1 for his expensive and eventually unsuccessful cartridge."

This interesting and unusual non-excavated Confederate bullet is from a very old Civil War bullet collection and will be an excellent addition to any Civil War bullet or general relic collection.
