Saddle Shield

SOLD

This excavated unmarked saddle shield is in fair condition. The device was attached to the saddle with the slot allowing a leather strap to pass through to anchor a bedroll or other necessities. It is constructed of sheet brass which has a dark olive-green patina. There are minor bends and an approximate 1/2-inch break that extends from the upper edge situated to the right of the left attachment hole. It measures approximately 1-1/2 x 2 inches and will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War campsite, battlefield, or general relic collection.
