This small iron stirrup was recovered with other Civil War relics from the Petersburg, VA area. The iron was very lightly clear coated long ago and is in good stable condition. There are no breaks, bends, or repairs. It measures approximately 3 3/4 inches in width and approximately 4 1/4 inches in height. This size of this stirrup indicates that it was likely for use by a woman or child. This stirrup will be an excellent addition to any excavated horse equipment collection.
