Altered Type III Williams Cleaner .58 Caliber Bullet - Soldier Creativity

SOLD

This excavated and soldier altered Type III .58 caliber Williams cleaner bullet is clearly the result of a soldier's idle time creativity. It was acquired directly from the digger who recovered it from a campsite in the area of Cedar Creek, VA. The disk and its support rod have been removed from the bottom of the bullet and placed in a hole on top of the bullet to make, what appears to be a hat. An untouched example of a Type III .58 caliber Williams cleaner bullet is pictured with this altered example to demonstrate the before and after appearance. The bullet has an overall dirty white patina. It will be an excellent and unusual addition to any excavated Civil War altered bullet or general relic collection. Approximately .58 x .739 inch. M&M 540, T&T 159, & RBTR Part One 284.
