US Belt Buckle

Item: Excavated US Belt Buckle.
Construction: Stamped thin sheet brass with lead fill and brass "arrow" type attachment hooks.
Condition: Good. The brass face still has a coating of light colored soil. The rim is bent and dented in several areas. The rear lead is mostly complete with the exception of one end. All three attachment hooks are present. The plate has not been repaired.
Recovered: Culpeper County, VA
Approximate size: 51 x 78 mm.
Comments: The buckle is being offered in the same state that it was in when it was recovered, as the digger did not feel compelled to clean his relics. If you like the recently "dug" appearance then this relic will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War buckle or general relic collection.
