US Belt Buckle Marked "BOYD & SONS BOSTON"

Item: Excavated US oval waist belt plate marked "BOYD & SONS BOSTON".
Construction: Stamped thin sheet brass, with solder fill, and stud type attachment hooks.
Condition: Excellent. Its brass front has a brown patina with areas of a very light layer green surface build up. The rear has nearly all of its solder with some very minor surface flaking. The manufacturer's mark is almost all there with the exception of part of "BOYD" (See additional close-up images). The buckle has no cracks, breaks, bends, or repairs.
Recovered: In the area of the Howlett Line, Chesterfield County, VA
Approximate size: 56 x 87 mm.
Comments:  This buckle was acquired directly from the digger, Robert Braswell, Jr. of Gaston, NC., who recovered many fine relics from both North Carolina and Virginia over several decades. Learn more about Robert and his relic detecting by clicking on his name above. It will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War plate or general relic collection.
