Item: US Belt Buckle - Stud Hooks - Very Nice Example
Construction: Stamped thin sheet brass with raised large letters "US". Rear with solder fill and stud (aka "puppy paw") type attachment hooks.
Condition: Excellent, excavated. Its brass front, with its very pleasing chocolate brown patina, is nearly flawless. The rim is in great shape. The rear has a near complete complement of solder with only light surface flaking. All three belt attachment hooks are in place. The rear solder shows a few letters of a weak stamping of "W. H. SMITH / BROOKLYN" representing its manufacturer. There are no cracks, breaks, bends, or repairs.
Recovered: Cold Harbor, VA area.
Approximate size: 55 x 86 mm.
