US Cartridge Box Plate

Item: ExcavatedUS cartridge box plate.
Construction: Stamped thin sheet brass with solder fill.
Condition: Good, excavated. Its brass front, with the raised letters "US", has a very nice chocolate brown patina. The rear has nearly all of its solder but does show some very minor surface flaking. There are three minor freeze cracks in areas of the rim which are nearly unnoticeable under normal room lighting. Its iron attachment loops are no longer present.
Recovered: Fredericksburg, VA area.
Approximate size: 55 x 86
Comments: This cartridge box plate will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War plate or general relic collection.
