Item: US Cartridge Box Plate - Near Perfect Excavated Example
Construction: Stamped thin sheet brass with solder fill and iron attachment loops.
Condition: Excellent, excavated. Its brass front, with long tall raised letters "US", has a very nice brown patina. The rear has a complete complement of solder and both loops present and straight-up. It has no cracks, breaks, bends, or repairs.
Recovered: Brandy Station, VA area.
Approximate size: 57 x 89 mm.
Comments: This cartridge box plate is in near perfect excavated condition and, if you are looking for museum quality, then this plate is for you. It will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War plate or general relic collection.
