US Cartridge Box Plate - Jericho Mill

Item: Excavated US cartridge box plate.
Construction: Stamped thin sheet brass and solder filled.
Condition: Good, excavated. Its brass front, with raised letters "US", has a very pleasing chocolate brown patina with areas of yellow soil in the rim area. The rear has a near complete complement of solder but is missing its two iron wire attachment loops. The area of white is likely "white out" and is where the digger placed his inventory number and recovery location. There is minor bending in the rim primarily at either end of the plate. There are no cracks or repairs.
Recovered: Jericho Mill, VA
Approximate size: 55 x 86 mm.
Comments: The display case and its label will be included with the plate. This cartridge box plate will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War plate or general relic collection.
