Item: Confederate 2.9” Read Long-Model Shell Base
Construction: Iron
Approximate size: Weight: 1.6 pounds. Diameter: 2.76 inches.
Condition: Fair, excavated. Shell base only with thin wrought iron sabot. Iron is in good stable condition.
Comments: On the bottom center of the base is a lathe-dimple however, on this one, the dimple is covered by rust/dirt encrustation. This artillery shell base will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War artillery or general relic collection.
