Item: Virginia State Seal Coat Button
Backmark: "W. H. HORSTMANN & SONS / . PHILA ." rmdc
Construction: Low convex, two-piece.
Approximate size: 22.5 mm.
Condition: Excellent, non-excavated, secure shank present. This very solid button is covered with silver. It has no pushes, cracks, breaks, or repairs.
Reference: Tice: VA206A6 Albert: VA 4
Comments: According to "Uniform Buttons Of The United States 1776-1865" by Warren K. Tice, regarding these buttons, "Many examples have been found at Civil War sites." This button will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War button or general relic collection.
