This excavated navy Parrott sabot for 30 pounder artillery shell was recovered from Petersburg, VA. It is constructed of cast brass which has aged into a nice looking mixed green-brown patina. Though bent, the sabot is a complete ring that clearly shows the five lands and grooves created by the rifling of the tube of a 30 pounder Parrott cannon upon firing. This artillery relic will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War artillery or general relic collection.
