Item: ExcavatedUS cartridge box plate.
Construction: Stamped thin sheet brass with solder fill with iron attachment loops.
Condition: Excellent. Its smooth brass front, with the raised letters "US", has an army brown-green patina with areas of the rim sporting a tan-white coloring from ground action. The rear has a complete complement of solder with both iron attachment loops present and erect. The plate has no cracks, breaks, or repairs.
Comments: This US cartridge box plate is a superb example and will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War plate or general relic collection.

Approximate size: 53 x 84 mm.
