Comments: Pinfire revolvers, pioneered by Casimir Lefaucheux in the 1830s and patented in 1854, gained popularity in Europe and were used by various armies from the mid-1850s until the late 1890s.

According to "Round Ball to Rimfire, Part Three" by Dean S. Thomas, on page 164; "Both the 7 mm and 9 mm pinfire cartridges are listed in the1865 "Instructions for making quarterly returns of Ordnance and Ordnance Stores," but there are no records of any purchases."

This example will be an excellent addition to any cartridge or general relic collection.
