Item: Federal 3-inch Hotchkiss Case-Shot Shell Nose

Construction: Iron.
Approximate size: Weight: 4 pounds. Diameter: 2.94 inches. Length: 5-9/16 inches.
Condition: Very good, excavated, fired. The shell's surface is stable, mildly pitted and lightly clear coated. Visible just inside the shell interior is a side view of the shell's thick iron washer or "pusher plate" as indicated in the additional images. Its fuze plug, sabot and base cup are no longer present. The shell nose is inactive and there are no repairs.

Comments: This Hotchkiss shell nose will be an excellent addition to any excavated artillery or general relic collection.
