Item: .54 Caliber Burnside Carbine Cartridge
Construction: Conical lead bullet with brass cartridge.
Condition: Very good, excavated, solid. The bullet itself has a brown-white patina and with moderate surface erosion. The cartridge has a rich green dusty patina and is in excellent shape. The ignition flame hole in its base is visible. There are no cracks, breaks, dents, or repairs. It is not a "put-together". 
Recovered: Seven Days Battles area.
Approximate size: 2.33-inch length; 455 grains weight.

Comments: Today, diggers are not likely to recover cartridges in this condition. This cartridge will be an excellent addition to any Civil War cartridge, bullet, or general relic collection.
