Item: .54 Caliber Burnside Carbine Cartridge
Construction: Conical lead bullet with brass cartridge.
Condition: Excellent, excavated, solid. The bullet itself has tan-grey patina. The cartridge has a dusty green patina with no cracks, dents, holes or repairs. The interior contents can be heard by gently shaking the cartridge.
Recovered: Chancellorsville, VA.
Approximate size: 2-3/8-inch length; 416 grains weight.

Comments: This cartridge is indeed an excellent excavated example, and diggers today are not likely to recover one in this condition. This cartridge was acquired from the family of the digger and will be an excellent addition to any Civil War cartridge, bullet, or general relic collection.
