Item: .58 Caliber US Model 1855 Socket Bayonet - Marked "US"
Construction: Steel
Condition: Excellent, either early pick-up or non-excavated, has a full length blade. The steel has a pleasing dark brown patina. The overall surface is mildly pitted, yet smooth. The "US" stamp is visible on the flat of the blade. The locking ring with fixed screw, is present and moves freely. There are no bends, breaks, or repairs.
Approximate size: 21 inches overall, 3 inch socket.
Comments: This bayonet also fit the US model 1861 & 1863 rifle/musket and will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War bayonet, weapon, or general relic collection.
