Item: .58 Caliber US Model 1855 Socket Bayonet - Marked "US"
Construction: Iron
Condition: Excellent, non-excavated. The iron has a nice dull grey patina with minimal surface pitting. The "US" stamp is clear on the flat of the full length blade near the blade shoulder. The locking ring with screw, are present and operable. There are no bends, breaks, or repairs.
Approximate size: 21-3/4 inches overall length, 2-15/16 inch socket length.
Comments: This bayonet also fits the US model 1861 & 1863 rifle/musket and will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War bayonet, weapon, or general relic collection.
