SOLD

This excavated Confederate .69 caliber Raleigh pattern bullet, commonly referred to as a Garibaldi bullet, is in good "dropped" condition and has an overall dirty white patina. It has a visible mold seam and a slightly out-of-round skirt. There is a small ding in the lower ring on one side along with a couple of surface patina chips on the upper body. According to the Dean Thomas reference book, Round Ball to Rimfire, Part Four, on page 236, item 562, these bullets were "made at the N.C. Institute for the Deaf & Dumb and the Blind". The bullet measures approximately .69 x .1.07 inches (diameter varies due to bent skirt). This bullet was recovered in central Virginia will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War bullet or general relic collection. Ref. M&M item 199
