Backmark: Blank with a depressed channel.
Design: Alabama state seal with "ALABAM" inscribed at the bottom of a map.
Construction: Convex, two-piece.
Approximate size: 22 mm.
Condition: Very good, excavated, partial shank present. Brown patina with hints of gilt but primarily in the area of the rim. Gilt in rear channel. No pushes, cracks or repairs.
Recovered: Unknown.

Comments: This Alabama coat button was acquired directly from the family of the Virginia digger and will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War button or general relic collection.
