Comments: According to "Uniform Buttons of the United States 1776-1865" by Warren K. Tice on page 247, regarding "Buttons of the Alabama Volunteer Corps, Northern Manufacturers":

"In 1860 Alabama attempted to form new companies of an efficient volunteer militia termed "Volunteer Corps of the State of Alabama," or the "Alabama Volunteer Corps." State military authorities asked that old common militia units join the new organization, and a few made the transformation. The corps was all but moribund by November 1861 since most active units had joined the regular Confederate Army."

This Alabama Volunteer Corps coat button will be an excellent addition to any Civil War button or general relic collection.
