Bank of the Commonwealth "One and Three Quarter Dollars" Note - Dated 1862

This original Confederate Bank of the Commonwealth "One and Three Quarter Dollars" Note is in fair condition and is dated June 4, 1862. Printed on the front of the note in very fine print at top edge just left of center is "R. LEGGETT, RICHMOND, VA." In larger print on the front center is "1 75/100  No.___  1 75/100  / THE Bank of the Commonwealth / WILL PAY TO THE BEARER ON DEMAND / ONE AND THREE QUARTER DOLLARS / Richmond, Va. / June 4th., 1862.". Both ends are printed with "ONE AND THREE QUARTER DOLLARS" and "THE BANK OF THE COMMONWEALTH" in scroll. The note is hand signed in black ink by the "Cash." and also by the "Pres.". The rear is blank. The paper is soft with nearly complete borders. There is moderate discoloration, creasing, minimal edge damage, corner folds and several pin holes that are visible with a good light. It measures approximately 2-1/4 x 6-1/4 inches. This note will come in a clear acid free envelope for preservation and display and will be an excellent addition to any Civil War note or general relic collection.
