Game Die

SOLD

This excavated game die is in good condition and likely constructed of bone. While in camp soldiers would pass the time playing games which involved one or more die. This example was included with a collection of other excavated Civil War relics acquired by Virginia Relics. Many of the items were recovered from Virginia and Pennsylvania.

Reference: Examples of similar die are found in the following relic reference books:

  • "Civil War Artifacts" by Howard Crouch on page 54, item 7.
  • "Excavated Artifacts from Battlefields and Campsites of The Civil War Supplement One" by Stanley S. Phillips on page 185, item 5.

See scans of above pages in additional images.

This die will be an excellent example to add to any excavated Civil War campsite or general relic collection.
