Item: Brass Heel Plate
Use: To reinforce wooden and leather soles.
Construction: Cast brass.
Approximate size: 2-3/8 x 2-1/16
Condition: Excellent, excavated. Its surface has a yellow soil covered brown-green patina. No cracks, breaks, bends, or repairs.
Recovered: North Anna, VA area.

Comments: Heel plates are recovered from time to time in areas of Civil War activity. This example was acquired directly from the family of the digger who hunter several Virginia Civil War sites during his lifetime. It will be a very nice addition to any excavated relic collection.
