Carved Bullet

SOLD

Soldiers often passed the time by whittling bullets, in some cases, creating fine works of art. This excavated bullet appears to have been carved into a game piece or perhaps just a simple creative carving. Its solid base may indicate that it was originally a .52 caliber Sharps carbine bullet. Recovering a carved bullet is especially meaningful, with the knowledge that this very personal item was likely last touched by the soldier that carved it. This carved bullet was recovered from Petersburg, VA and will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War bullet or general relic collection. This bullet measures approximately .51 x .85 inch.
