Item: Post-Civil War Clip Corner Belt Plate - 1870-1880's Period
Construction: Sheet brass with applied wide tongue and belt loop bar.
Condition: Excellent, excavated. The plate a pleasing chocolate brown patina with a light layer of yellow soil still present, primarily on the rear. The body of the plate has a minor wave. The rear is in excellent shape and retains its belt attachment tongue and belt attachment bar. There are no cracks, breaks, repairs.
Recovered: Albemarle County, VA area.
Approximate size: 54 x 74 mm.
Comments: This clip corner belt plate will be an excellent addition to any post-Civil War plate or general relic collection.
