Company Hat Letter "F"

Item: Company Letter "F"
Construction:
Stamped thin sheet brass.
Condition:
Very good, excavated, brass wire attachment device missing. The brass has a mostly brown patina. There is a slight inward bend to the overall letter. A very small hole is found at the top inner edge of the vertical column. Remnants of solder are visible on the rear that once held the attachment device. There are no cracks or repairs.
Recovered: Quantico, VA area along the Potomac River.
Approximate size:
 1 x 1 inch.

Comments: This company letter "F" was acquired directly from the Virginia digger. Included is a scanned image of the digger (on left), with his hunting buddies and their detectors dating to the 1970-80s. This solid company letter "F" will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War insignia or general relic collection.
