Comments: According to Peter George, co-author of "Field Artillery Projectiles of the American Civil War", there are four types of side-plugs: lead, iron, brass, and copper. As stated above, this case-shot has the lead type which is considered to be the most frequently encountered type. This "side-loader" case-shot will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War artillery or general relic collection.
