Item: Confederate Army Officer Coat Button
Backmark: Blank with wide depressed channel.
Design: Confederate eagle holding three arrows, with 12 five-pointed stars encircling on a lined field.
Construction: Convex, two-piece.
Approximate size: 22 mm.
Condition: Very good, excavated, secure shank present and bent over to back. Rich brown patina. There are no pushes, cracks, breaks, or repairs.
Recovered: Albemarle County, VA.
Reference: Tice: CS257A1; Albert: CS 22
Comments: This button was acquired directly from the local Virginia digger, and it will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War button or general relic collection.
