Item: Confederate Artillery Coat Button - Richmond Manufacturer
Backmark: "E. M. LEWIS & CO. / RICHMOND VA." rmdc
Construction: Convex, two-piece.
Approximate size: 23 mm.
Condition: Very good, excavated, secure shank present. The button has a slightly reddish-brown patina. Its rear has a very strong back mark with every raised letter in the depressed channel clearly visible. There is a push to the rear with the shank bent to one side.
Recovered: Unknown.

Comments: This artillery coat button will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War button or general relic collection.
