Item: Confederate Artillery Coat Button - Roman "A" - Richmond Manufacturer
Backmark: "E. M. LEWIS & CO. / RICHMOND VA." rmdc
Design: Raised Roman letter "A" on a plain field with a flat wide border.
Construction: Convex, two-piece.
Approximate size: 23 mm.
Condition: Very good, excavated, secure shank present. Dusty brown patina. No pushes, cracks, breaks or repairs.
Recovered: Unknown.

Comments: This artillery coat button was acquired directly from the family of the digger and will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War button or general relic collection.
