Confederate Fifty Dollar Note

This original Confederate fifty dollar note is in fair condition. It shows a contemporary portrait of President Jefferson Davis and was printed by the firm of "Keatinge & Ball. Columbia, S.C.". It has a machine serial number in black of "25772". It is dated February 17, 1864. The note was printed on fine quality bank note paper which is still moderately crisp. Printed on the note is "The Confederate States of America / Will pay to the bearer on demand FIFTY DOLLARS / Richmond, Feb.y 17th..1864. "The back is blue with a large "FIFTY" and four circular medallions with the numeral "50" at the corners. The note has a hole in its center, edge folding and tears, multiple creases, and discoloration. It will come in a clear acid free envelope for preservation and display and will be an excellent addition to any Civil War note or general relic collection. Ref. Criswell T-66.
