Confederate Five Dollar Note

SOLD

This original Confederate five dollar note is in very good condition. It is dated February 17, 1864, hand numbered, and signed. These notes were engraved by Keatinge & Ball of Columbia S.C. and printed by Evans & Cogswell. The front of the note shows the Confederate Capitol at Richmond, VA. with C. G. Memminger in the lower right, who served as the Confederate Secretary of the Treasury. The rear shows a large "FIVE" with four circular medallions with the numeral "5" at the corners on blue ink. This crisp note has a very nice pink color with minor discoloration and creasing, and nearly complete borders. It will come in a clear acid free sleeve for preservation and display, and will be an excellent addition to any Civil War note or general relic collection. Ref. Criswell T-69.
