This original Confederate five dollar note is in fair condition. It is dated February 17, 1864, hand numbered, and signed. These notes were engraved by Keatinge & Ball of Columbia S.C. and printed by Evans & Cogswell. The front of the note shows the Confederate Capitol at Richmond, VA. with C. G. Memminger in the lower right, who served as the Confederate Secretary of the Treasury. Click on the preceding C.G. Memminger link to read more about him and his contributions.
