Item: Confederate Time Fuze Adaptor for Spherical Projectile
Construction: Cast copper.
Use: To support a paper time fuze and to form a tight seal. The two spanner holes, visible on the top of the adaptor and to either side of the center hole, accommodated a wrench used to screw the device into the shell.  Very good, excavated. Its surface has a mottled dark brownish-green patina. A portion of its paper time fuse is still visibly lodged in place. The threads appear to be in good condition. There are no cracks, breaks, dents, or repairs.

  Fredericksburg, VA area.
