Item: Confederate Infantry Coat Button
Backmark: Blank with depressed channel and ring of dots.
Design: Roman "I" on a plain field.
Construction: Convex, two-piece.
Approximate size: 22 mm.
Condition: Excellent, excavated, secure shank present. The front has a very pleasing even brown-greenish patina. The rear has a hairline fracture that extends from the inner ring to the rim. This minor defect does not affect the button's structural integrity. No pushes, breaks, or repairs.
Recovered: North Anna, VA.
