Item: Confederate Infantry Coat Button - Block I
Backmark: Ring of dots
Design: Roman "I" on a plain field.
Construction: Convex, two-piece.
Approximate size: 22 mm.
Condition: Very good, excavated, secure shank present. The button is absolutely stunning with its even brown patina. One end of the shank wire is not connected; however this does not affect the shank's integrity. No pushes, cracks or repairs.
Recovered: A Virginia find but specifically unknown.
Reference: Tice: CSI243B Albert: CS 182
Comments: This Confederate infantry button was acquired directly from the local Virginia digger. It will be an excellent addition to any Civil War button or general relic collection.
