Comments: For several reasons, these buttons are one of my favorite relics of the Civil War. Its simplicity in design, its weight, and manufacturing crudeness, make a very attractive and thoroughly Confederate produced and used button. They were made to last and, what I find most appealing about this particular example, are the distinct manufacturing lathe lines near the rim that encircle the big bold letter "I". This Confederate Infantry button will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War button or general relic collection.
