Item: Confederate Infantry Coat Button - "Script I"
Backmark: Blank
Design: Lined old English "I" on a plain field.
Construction: Convex, two-piece.
Approximate size: 22 mm.
Condition: Good, excavated, secure shank present. Chocolate brown patina with minimal tan surface soil in areas of the letter "I" and at the rim. There is a mild push to the center left. The shank is bent over to the back. No holes, cracks, breaks or repairs.
Recovered: Charles City County, VA.

Comments: The button was acquired directly from the digger and will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War button or general relic collection.
