Item: Confederate Infantry Coat Button - "Script I"
Backmark: "S. ISAACS CAMPBELL & Co / LONDON / 71 JERMYN. ST" dm
Design: Lined old English "I" on a plain field.
Construction: Convex, two-piece.
Approximate size: 22 mm.
Condition: Fair, excavated, secure shank present bent over to back. Dusty brown-green patina. Severe push to front. Backmark is very difficult to see. No cracks, breaks, or repairs.
Recovered: Culpeper County, VA

Comments: The button was acquired directly from the digger and will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War button or general relic collection.
