Item: Confederate Infantry Coat Button - "Script I" with letters "CS"
Backmark: Raised five-pointed star of Wildt & Kline in depressed channel.
Design: Lined old English "I" on a plain field between letters "C" and "S".
Construction: Convex, two-piece.
Approximate size: 23 mm.
Condition: Very good, excavated, shank missing. Brown patina with lighter brown on the high relief areas. Mild push to right of the letter "I". Star in rear channel is present and visible with a magnifier and light. No cracks or repairs.
Recovered: Unknown

Comments: The rare button will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War button or general relic collection.
