Confederate "Virginia Style" Tongue and Wreath Belt Buckle

Item: Excavated Confederate "Virginia Style" Tongue and Wreath Belt Buckle
Construction: Sand cast brass with raised letters "CS". 
Condition: Excellent, excavated. The tongue and wreath have an overall matching dusty green patina. There are no cracks, breaks, bends, or repairs. 
Recovered: Central Virginia
Approximate size:
48 X 83 mm.
Comments:  A similar example of this style plate is found in Steve E. Mullinax's book "Confederate Belt Buckles and Plates", 1st edition, on page 9 as plate 004 and also in the "Expanded Edition" of the same book on page 11 as plate 004. This Confederate belt buckle will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War plate or general relic collection.
