Item: Confederate Saddle Pommel Shield
Use: Decorative device attached to saddle pommel.
Construction:
Stamped thin sheet brass with stamped letters "CS". 
Approximate size:
1-1/2 x 1-3/4 inches.
Condition: 
Excellent, excavated. Very pleasing deep rich chocolate brown patina. No bends, cracks, breaks, or repairs.
Recovered: Unknown

Comments: This CS saddle pommel shield is by far one of the finest examples I have had the pleasure of handling. It will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War cavalry or general relic collection.
