Construction: Sand cast brass.
Condition: Excellent, excavated. Both tongue and wreath have dusty green patinas that nicely complement each other. Belt keepers show minor bends. It has no cracks, breaks or repairs.

Approximate size: 54 mm belt loop height on both tongue and wreath; 44 mm wreath height; 80 mm overall belt plate length.
Reference: Similar examples can be found in in the following Civil War Confederate belt plate reference book:
See above pages in additional images.
Comments: The buckle was acquired directly from Roger Catlett who, along with his brothers once owned and operated Chancellorsville Outpost which sold Civil War relics, metal detectors, and other goods. An old advertisement for this country store, with outdated information, is included in the additional images. Unfortunately, the store has now been closed for approximately two decades. This rare Confederate buckle will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War buckle, plate, or general relic collection.
