Confederate Ten Dollar Note

SOLD

This original Confederate ten dollar note is in very good condition, was hand numbered and is dated February 17, 1864. These notes were engraved by Keatinge & Ball. Columbia S.C. and "Ptd by Evans & Cogswell". One side of this note shows the horses pulling cannon. The lower right hand corner is the likeness of Robert Hunter (1809-1887) who served as a CS Senator from Virginia and briefly as Confederate Secretary of State. Prior to the war he was a US Congressman and Senator from Virginia. The rear shows a large "TEN" with four circular medallions with the numeral "10" at the corners on blue ink. This crisp note has minor discoloration, creasing, and incomplete borders. It will come in a clear acid free envelope for preservation and display and will be an excellent addition to any Civil War note or general relic collection. Ref. Criswell T-68.
