Item: Confederate Twenty Dollar Note - 1863 - CC
Date: April 6, 1863.
Engraver: Keatinge & Ball, Columbia S.C.
Design: The front shows the state capitol at Nashville, TN and Confederate Vice-President Alexander Stephens to the lower right. Stamped in red is "July 1863" believed to be the actual month of issue. The rear has Roman numeral "XX" in the center with "20" in a medallion to either side. It is hand numbered (believed to be in red ink but badly faded) and signed in black ink.
Approximate size: 3 x 7-3/8 inches.
Condition: Good. The note is cut-canceled in the form of a cross. Borders are nearly complete. The paper is soft, soiled, has creases, edge wear with minor tears and holes.
Reference: Criswell T-58
Comments: This Confederate twenty-dollar note will be an excellent addition to any Civil War note or general relic collection.
