County of Page, VA Fifty Cent Note - Dated 1861 - RARE

This original and RARE Confederate County of Page Twenty-Five Cent note is in good condition and is dated "Aug. 1, 1861.". Printed on the note in center is "Luray, Va., / 50 / Aug. 1, 1861. / No. ____ / The County of Page Liable / THE COUNTY OF PAGE / Will Pay FIFTY CENTS, to Bearer. / On Demand, at Luray, in Virginia Bank Notes, when presented in sums of not less than Ten Dollars. Printed on the front left end is "FIFTY" and is hand signed in faded red ink by the "Clerk". Printed on the front right end in smaller letters is "FIFTY". The note is hand signed in faded ink by the "Sec." and in black ink by the "Pres.". The note is hand numbered in faded red ink. The rear is blank. The paper is soft with nearly complete borders. There is moderate discoloration, creasing, minimal edge damage, corner folds and several pin holes that are visible with a good light. It measures approximately 2-1/2 x 6-13/16 inches. This note will come in a clear acid free envelope for preservation and display and will be an excellent addition to any Civil War note or general relic collection.
